BCT inaugurates Inchara

The 27th of May was a memorable day for BCT Hubli as we inaugurated Inchara at the Deshpande Center for Social Entrepreneurship, in Hubli. Through Inchara BCT reaches out to 200 orphan and vulnerable children and 67 mothers affected and infected by HIV in 27 villages of Dharwad district.

The guests of honour for the inauguration program were Dr. N.M Angadi, District Health Officer, Dharwad and Dr. Gururaj Deshpande, Trustee, Deshpande Foundation. Other guests were present on stage: Mr. B.S. Gomadi, ART Medical Officer, KIMS, Hubli, Dr. Jayashree Katvatti, Taluk Health Officer, Dharwad, Dr. Subhash Bhorakrwad, Taluk Medical Officer, Hubli, Mr. Naveen Jha, CEO of Deshpande Foundation India.

BCT’s Trustee Dr. Ashok Agarwal and Project Director Dr. Suryaprakash were also present to chair the function. The program started with a prayer sung by one of the foster care mother which was followed by lighting of the lamp by all the guests on stage.

Dr. Suryaprakash gave a brief introduction about Inchara and the kind of services provided through the program. On this occasion Dr Agarwal also shared his views about Inchara the impact it is having on vulnerable women and children affected by HIV.

The program would have been incomplete without the beneficiaries’ voice so two mothers shared their opinion on being part of the program and their experience as foster care mothers.

The inauguration program was concluded by thanks from a member of BCT’s staff and followed by lunch provided from Akshaya Patra .

It was a great for BCT and the staffs to see their months of hard work in setting up the foster care units culminate into the official inauguration. It was also a great feeling to see the active participation of foster care mothers and children in attending the function and enjoying the day.
